Personally, dance is not just about movement, so much has to do with the music, energy, and connection. My work is rooted in the happiness performance brings me, where music guides the choreography, and every movement has purpose.
I am very inspired by musical theatre dance where dance, music, acting, and sometimes singing are all linked together, creating something exciting for both dancers and audiences to experience.
I believe in the power of planning and preparation. Whether it’s a big ensemble piece or a solo moment, I enjoy the challenge of mapping out my movements that way I am prepared for my dancers. My work is built around having fun, cause dance is meant to be an expression of joy and passion. I gravitate toward choreography that really entertains an audience. I acknowledge that dance can express a super wide range of emotions, but I love to focus on creating experiences that leave the audience feeling energized.
Outside of dance, I love the idea that performance is a space for broader connections, like to each other. Connections between dancers, the shared energy, and the group experience are what make the work meaningful, both on and off stage.
